Have
you listened to Podcasts? I am just now discovering Kidcasts - podcasts
aimed specifically at children. Many of these Kidcasters can also be
found on the web.
I found this wonderful Podcast today. Books for Kids.
How
to describe this wonderful podcast? Kitty hosts book club discussions
with a group of kids. The discussion is taped and becomes a part of the
podcast. Not only that, her discussions frequently have the author of
the book or another celebrity who joins in the discussion.
With a number of people schooling from home right now, I thought that this would be an awesome resource to share.
Let's
take a quick look at her most recent post - for Angie Thomas's Book "On
the Come Up". The Podcast includes a discussion of the book with
students from DC's West Education Campus. Actress Tallie Johnson is the
Celebrity Reader. On the website, we have the direct link to the
podcast. Angie Thomas' Playlist for the book. Favorite books from the
students who were a part of the discussion.
There are so many books that are included in the discussion series. Every book that is listed has similar resources.
Parents,
this is a phenomenal way to engage your at home children. She has
included a link at the top of the page under Educators and Parents that
will help you extend the reading beyond the book for your child.
I
struggle with calling what we are doing right now Home Schooling. I've
heard it called Crisis Schooling, and I agree that this might very well
be the best name for our current situation.
Stay healthy, y'all. Wash your hands. Don't touch your face. Get sleep.
